Akina joined Schmidt in December 2006 as Human Resources Manager. Prior to joining, she had over 10 years experience in the human resources field. Akina was promoted to Regional Human Resources Director and became a member of the Executive Management Committee in 2011.

She holds a Bachelor Degree of Sciences and Applied Biology from the Hong Kong Baptist University and a Professional Diploma in Human Resource Management from Hong Kong Management Association.
